and we are always glad to furnish estimates or any information desired. Our
facilities for immediately furnishing entire outfits are absolutely unequaled, and
we know that our prices will be found as low as the lowest.
SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS. — In ordering goods of us, please always be
particular to state whether shipment is to be made by express or freight, and if
you prefer to have shipment made over any particular line, please be careful to
so state when ordering.
If goods are to be sent by mail, please always so state when ordering and
remit the price of the goods and an amount sufficient to cover postage.

be shipped by express. Goods sent by mail are subject to examination, and in
examining them the packing is taken out by the post-office officials, and
sometimes is not properly replaced.
In ordering Chairs or Furniture, please state whether they are to be shipped
by express or freight, and what wood is wanted. We quote most of our Chairs
and Furniture in more than one wood, and great care should be taken to state
just what is wanted, and, in ordering Chairs, what color plush is to be used in
upholstering.
We make no charge for boxing or cartage, and always secure for our
customers. the lowest rate of freight obtainable.
NOTICE.— In shipping goods by express, C. O. D., we always send an item¬
ized bill, but if any of our customers object to having this bill seen by the
express agent, we will send it to them by mail. When shipment is desired in
this way, however, it should be mentioned each time when ordering.
W e are always very willing to correct any errors that have occurred through
any oversight on our part, and we will consider it a special favor if our patrons
will promptly call our attention to any orders that are not properly filled. In
handling hundreds of orders each day, errors are bound to occur, but thev are
simply clerical errors which we are always glad to correct, and which we
endeavor as far as possible to avoid.

KOCHS’ COLUMBIA -=•-=.
(Revolving ■ and • Reclining ■ Barbees' - Chairs
PATENTED DECEMBER 8, 1891
ONE LEVER
is all that is necessary to recline the chair or to revolve it when reclined
or upright, and every result can be accomplished that other chairs require
a lever and a foot=treadle to accomplish . . .
“Improvement
is the order of the age," and in the first Columbia
Chair that we introduced (in 1SS8) we offered
a chair that was operated with two levers and without the objectionable foot-
treadle. We placed one lever at the back of the chair and one at the side,
but we soon learned from experience that the lever at the back was
impracticable, and in our Columbia of 1S89, we offered a chair
with a lever at each side. This was an improvement and at
once met with hearty favor, but wo realized that a successful
chair must be made without springs or toothed ratchets,
which are a constant source of trouble and annoy¬
ance. Our efforts were more than successful, for in
our Columbia of 1891 we offered to the profession
a chair that was made not only without a spring
or a ratchet, but which combined in One Lever
the entire control of the chair. The success
of this innovation has been very great, and the
chair has been pronounced perfect by hun¬
dreds of barbers who have them in daily use
and who appreciate the advantages we offer
them in this chair. We have made such
alterations ns have suggested themselves
from time to time, and we now offer our
Columbia of 1893
SRE THAT THE x\AME
which is, without any doubt, the most per-
Revolving and Reclining Chair ever
placed upon the market. Combining in it all of the best features of the
< olumbia Chairs we have made in years past, we have succeeded in
producing an article that absolutely excels. By simply placing
One Lever (which is conveniently placed at the right hand,
and still entirely out of the way) in three different posi¬
tions, as illustrated, the chair can be reclined, locked, or
revolved when reclined or in an upright position.
There is not a spring nor a toothed ratchet in the ma¬
chinery, and it is absolutely noiseless in its action.
The lever is most easily placed from one posi¬
tion to another, for there are no springs in the
machinery, and consequently no power of a
spring to overcome, and we shall be pleased to
furnish at any time hundreds of testimonials
that we have received from leading barbers,
in which the ease of operation, superiority
of plush and workmanship and durability
are particularly mentioned.

THEO. TK. KOCHS, OHICMCO,
KOCHS’ BARBERS’ CHAIRS
With Lifting Treadle JVlaehinery.
PATENTED SEPTEMBER 30, 1890.
A slight pressure of the foot upon the treadle is all that is necessary to
return the chair and occupant to an upright position.
NO LIFTING. NO MORE HARD LABOR. NO STRAINING.
ILLUSTRATION SHOWS POSITION OF TREADLE WHEN CHAIR IS UPRIGHT.
ILLUSTRATION SHOWS POSITION OF TREADLE WHEN CHAIR IS RECLINED.
Probably the hardest part of the day’s work for the barber
who is using an adjustable chair, is that which obliges him to lift
the combined weight of the chair and customer every time that he
finishes shaving, and the release from this that Ave offer in our
Lifting Treadle Machinery has been hailed with delight by the
profession. A\ hen the operation of shaving a customer is com¬
pleted, all that is necessary is a slight pressure of the foot upon
the treadle and the chair is easily and gradually returned to an
upright position Avithout the use of the hands.
There is not a spring nor a toothed ratchet in the machinery,
so that the trouble and expense of broken chair springs is en¬
tirely done aAvay with and there is absolutely nothing to wear.
The chair can be adjusted to any desired position, even to
the fraction of of an inch, for the locking arrangement acts
immediately Avhen the treadle is released, and there is none of the
lost motion and consequent Avear that is unaAroidable on chairs
using toothed ratchets. If you are buying adjustable chairs, be
sure that they are fitted with Kochs' Lifting Treadle Machinery.

OUR GRINDING DEPARTMENT.
In our Grind Shop we employ only skilled workmen, and this is a department in which we
ibsolutely excel. The shop is in our own building, is well lighted, supplied with all the latest
improved machinery, and it is impossible to have the work more perfectly done. In this depart¬
ment we grind all our own razors and sharpen and repair razors, shears and clippers. Our
facilities are unequaled, and here we again demonstrate our advantages over other houses, for we
'rind only barbers' tools and do not do a general grinding business. Our men are experts at
razor concaving and barbers’ shears and clipper grinding, and, devoting their entire time and
itteution to work of that class, are bound to excel. We are exclusively in the business of
barber® Supplies and patrons will find that in this and every other department this fact
operates greatly to their advantage.
DIRECTIONS. — Razors are mailable, if the razor is securely bound with wire , so the blade
ainuot open. The safest way to send grinding is by express. In sending unsealed packages of
razors or* other tools by mail, do not enclose any writing in the package, but send full direct¬
ions by letter. Write your name and address on the outside of the package. We frequently
receive a package without any name or address marked on, and nothing to indicate who sent it-
Delays naturally occur, until we can discover who the sender is. If razors are to be returned by
mail, please remit three cents for each razor.

THE 11 LUCIFER ” RAZOR.
The Lucifer is a brand that we can guarantee as being strictly first-class from every standpoint,
and our confidence in this razor is strengthened every day by the large number of orders we are
receiving and which we have been receiving steadily since the razor was introduced. Particular atten¬
tion is paid to the selection of the material used in these blades, and they are ground only by expert
workmen. Throughout the entire course of manufacture, the most rigid
inspection is enforced so that the razors that are finally passed by the
different departments through which they go, can be depended upon as
being absolutely the best that money can buy.
Every razor that we send out is honed, ready for immediate use,
and a trial is all that is necessary to convince the most skeptical that
The Lucifer is “ the very best."
